We read the drawings before we price the job. On these homes the scope is rarely just “line the house”. There are shadowline set-outs, negative details at door heads, bulkheads over joinery, light troughs that have to line up with the lighting plan, and ceilings that change height twice in one room.
That gets resolved on paper, not improvised on site with a trowel.

Flawless Square Set and Smooth Finish Walls
Square set is the detail most clients ask for and the one most likely to crack when it is rushed. With no cornice hiding the junction, the wall meets the ceiling in one sharp line, so any movement in the frame shows up.
We deal with that at the framing and fixing stage rather than the patching stage: checking studs and battens are true before a sheet goes up, using Rondo steel and proper control joints where spans or materials change, and sticking to trade materials from Knauf, CSR and Hopkins.
Where a wall catches raking light or takes a dark gloss paint, we step it up to a level 5 finish, because that is where every imperfection reads.
Feature Ceilings, Bulkheads and Light Troughs
Feature ceilings are where this work earns its keep: curved and raked ceilings, coffered panels, skylight returns, dropped bulkheads that frame a kitchen or define a hallway, and light troughs that wash a wall without showing the fitting.
The trick with all of it is set-out. A light trough 8mm out of parallel across a 6 metre run is visible the moment the lights go on, and no amount of sanding fixes it later. We set out from the drawings and confirm the line on site with the builder before we sheet.
Ornamental and Decorative Cornices
Plenty of architectural work in Melbourne happens inside a period shell: an Edwardian in Malvern with a modern rear extension, or a Victorian terrace being brought back properly. That usually means ornamental cornices, ceiling roses and mouldings matching the originals rather than the nearest thing on a shelf.
We take a profile off the existing work and reproduce it, so the new rooms sit comfortably beside the old.
Venetian Plaster and Polished Finishes
Venetian plaster is the finish clients save to a Pinterest board, then worry is not worth the money over paint. Applied properly it is nothing like paint: it has real depth and it shifts through the day as the light moves. Applied badly it looks like bad paint, which is the risk you are paying us to remove.
